This month’s featured project takes us to sunny Sacramento, California, where Hankin Specialty Elevators installed two Garaventa Genesis OPAL vertical platform lifts at Sutter Health Park—a stadium that will soon serve as the temporary home of the Oakland A’s, in addition to being the longtime home of the Sacramento River Cats.
A Major League Upgrade
As part of a large-scale remodel to bring the park up to Major League Baseball standards, accessibility was a key priority. The project called for an elegant and functional solution to enable access in and out of each dugout and onto the field. Hankin Specialty Elevators met the challenge by installing one Genesis OPAL lift in each dugout. The straight-through configuration of the OPAL made it an ideal fit, providing smooth, direct passage from the dugout to the playing field.Meeting Unique Challenges
Working in a professional sports venue brought unique considerations. The existing infrastructure, coupled with strict renovation deadlines, required precise coordination with other contractors and stadium personnel. Despite these complexities, the Genesis OPAL units integrated seamlessly with the dugout design. The Genesis OPAL’s compact footprint and durable construction made it a perfect match for the dugouts’ high-traffic, space-sensitive environment.
This installation is part of a broader effort to modernize Sutter Health Park and create a more inclusive experience for all who visit and work there. Hankin Specialty Elevators is proud to contribute to the accessibility goals of this exciting new MLB venue.
